Tau Beta Pi - Student Engineer of the Year - Margaret Kimble
July 18, 2012 — A native of Lakewood, Colorado, Margaret is a senior in civil engineering. She has been involved in numerous organizations in addition to her membership in Tau Beta Pi and ITE. Margaret is involved with the ASCE student chapter and the Joint Engineering Council. One of her major achievements while in school has been the coordination of ASCE Rocky Mountain Student Conference held this spring. Margaret has performed these activities while working for theWyDOT Laramie Design Squad, as well as acting as a grader and TeachingAssistant. In addition to her work for the university, Margaret is a member of the Cowgirl Yarn Commuknitty, a Laramie area knitting group, and has served as the President of the Wyoming Mounted Color Guard, an 1860's era cavalry reenactment group. Margaret plans to continue at the University of the Wyoming in the M.S. Program. She will be researching the mitigation of Alkali-Silicareactions in concrete with the use of fly ash. Upon the completion of her degree, Margaret would like to work in structural and transportation design.
