Dr. Thomas Edgar: 2013 ASCE Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award for Region 7
Dr. Thomas Edgar has been selected to receive the 2013 ASCE Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award for Region 7. Dr. Edgar was selected after being nominated by his student officers via a 2012 annual report of his activities. He was chosen for his outstanding work and dedication as a faculty advisor to the University of Wyoming ASCE Student Chapter.
Dr. Edgar is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Wyoming and Colorado. His research specialization is in the flow, deformation, and pollutant migration in saturated and unsaturated porous media; including slope stability and expansive soils.
His most recent work includes:
- Electrokinetic Remediation of Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil using Surfactants
- Protection of wellhead areas for public water supplies, and:
- Consolidation of Partially Saturated Soils due to applied Stress, Moisture and Thermal Gradients
