UW Engineering Group Receives Programming Honors

Four people associated with the College of Engineering and Applied Science were recognized for their work at a recent programming workshop, including two students and two faculty members.

At the High-Performance Computing and Programming Workshop, best poster honors went to University of Wyoming electrical and computer engineering graduate student Vinay Ramakrishnaiah, computer science graduate student Ahn Nguyen, Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Suresh Muknahallipatna and Associate Professor Robert Kubichek.

The event was hosted March 9-10 by NVIDIA at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., and was geared toward undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and professors from UW, Colorado and Colorado State.

The programming workshop focused on introducing scientific computing programming utilizing NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) to accelerate applications across a diverse set of domains. Presented by NVIDIA instructor CSU’s Jonathan Bentz, the workshop introduced programming techniques, profiling and debugging methods for GPU programming.
