Cheyenne Elementary School To Visit College of Engineering and Applied Science

May 18, 2016

The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) will work with an outstanding group of middle school students next week.

On May 25, the University of Wyoming will host 42 sixth-grade students from Pioneer Park Elementary in Cheyenne, Wyo. The students will participate in a series of campus enrichment activities in the morning and then engage in a hands-on engineering session in the afternoon.

Starting at 10 a.m., the students will begin educational activities in the Shell 3-D Visualization Center in the School of Energy Resources, UW Geological Museum and the new Enzi STEM Building. The students will rotate through the program throughout the morning.

The groups will then go on a tour of the UW Planetarium starting at 11:30 a.m. After lunch, the youngsters will engage in an engineering activity hosted by the CEAS.

“I am excited to work with the visiting students and teachers to not only provide them with exposure to some of the great programs and activities offered here on campus, but to also help them realize the importance and relevance of engineering in their everyday lives,” CEAS K-14 Project Coordinator Teddi Hofmann says.
