University of Wyoming Professor Vladimir Alvarado has earned a new distinction from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Alvarado, who also serves as the department head of chemical engineering at UW, recently was recognized for joining the ranks of SPE’s “A Peer Apart” program. The program recognizes those who have completed more than 100 reviews for SPE’s peer-reviewed journals. As a result of the volunteer effort, he joins 148 others in the group, including six who reached that milestone in 2016.

This year’s recipients will be recognized in a SPEs News article in mid-September and earn an engraved crystal desk plaque.

“Thank you for the dedication to technical excellence that you have provided to authors, to SPE, and to the industry in volunteering your time and expertise to review 100 or more technical papers,” writes Stacie Hughes, SPE’s Peer Review Administrator, of Alvarado. “SPE’s strength comes from dedicated volunteers like you. The commitment of volunteer time necessary to achieve this milestone is truly meritorious.”
