College Announces Fall 2016 Engineering Initiative Speaker Series

The fall 2016 College of Engineering and Applied Science Engineering Initiative Speaker Series has been announced.

The presentations, which take place Wednesdays from noon-1 p.m., will be in the Energy Innovation Center Auditorium. The schedule is as follows:

Oct. 5: “Gathering Laboratory Data for Chemical Process Design: Linking the Chemical Engineering Process Design and Unit Operations Laboratory classes” by David Bell, Department of Chemical Engineering and “Developing Hands-on Experiences for Students in Biological Engineering Education” by Patrick Johnson and Karen Wawrousek, Department of Chemical Engineering

Oct. 12: “Occupant Presence Modeling and Integrating with Building Simulation” by Gang Tan, Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and “Improvements to ME Thermal/Fluids Lab” by Kevin Kilty, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Oct. 19: “High-Resolution Modelling of Precipitation and Snowpack in Wyoming” by Bart Geerts, Department of Atmospheric Science

Oct. 26: "Statics, An Active Learning Approach" by Len Lutz, CEAS Dean’s Office and “The Laramie Robotics Club: Actively Learning STEM, Programming & Robotics” by Jeff Clune, Department of Computer Science

Nov. 2: “Sustainable Brine Management by Integrating Membrane Based Desalination Into Subsurface Irrigation” by Jonathan Brant, Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering

Nov. 9: “Multidisciplinary Engineering Capstone Design Sequence” by Rob Erikson, CEAS Dean’s Office

Nov. 16: “Experimental and Computational Research on Solid Fuel Combustion” by Erica Belmont and Michael Stoellinger, Department of Mechanical Engineering
