The CEAS announced it will partner with Project Lead the Way.

The University of Wyoming College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) has formed a valuable partnership with a national educational organization.

The CEAS now is designated as an official university partner of Project Lead the Way (PLTW), which is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S. According to the PLTW website, the organization creates an engaging classroom environment for both students and teachers.

“We are so excited to have created a formal partnership with Project Lead the Way,” says Teddi Hofmann, CEAS K-14 Project Coordinator. “There are a number of schools across the state which offer PLTW courses and I know that the educators who teach the courses do a phenomenal job preparing for and implementing the curriculum in their classrooms. The CEAS looks forward to strengthening our PLTW partnership and to supporting Wyoming teachers who continue to empower K-12 students to make the world a better place.”

According to the its website, PLTW “empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges.” The organization utilizes pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science so students gain technical skills and learn to solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate, and collaborate. PLTW also provide teachers with the training, resources and support to engage students in real-world learning.

As a university partner, the CEAS has agreed to provide a small scholarship for incoming first-year engineering students who have completed one or more PLTW courses with a grade of C or higher. For more information about the scholarship, please visit our “Scholarships” webpage here.

UW also will be listed on the PLTW website, found here. In the coming weeks, the CEAS name, logo, and description will be added to the PLTW Wyoming State page.
