University of Wyoming graduate student Rachel Edie received an outstanding student presentation award for her poster at the American Geophysical Union's fall meeting. Edie studies atmospheric science at UW.

Her presentation was titled, "Comparison of Near-Source BTEX Flux Measurements to Inventory Estimates for Upstream Oil and Natural Gas Operations and Identification of Specific BTEX Sources in the Northern Colorado Front Range." The meeting took place Dec. 10-14, 2018, in Washington, D.C.

"This was my first AGU poster session and I had so much fun," Edie says. "I'm incredibly humbled by the judges' comments and feel excited about sharing my research again. Judges, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my poster and talk to me. I really appreciate it, especially since the meeting is packed with interesting science. I hope we can have long discussions in the future."

The outstanding student presentation awards (OSPA) are given to promote, recognize and reward undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students for quality research in the geophysical sciences. Each year, sections recruit judges to assess and score student oral and poster presentations at meetings. Typically, only the top 2-5 percent of presenters in each section are awarded an OSPA.
