Adaptive Control Systems
Investigation of complex dynamical systems that require adaptation, learning, and control. Research is conducted in adaptive control theory (control of imprecisely known systems, data-based as well as model-based), and applications (e.g., Evolving Systems, Wind and Congestion Control in nano-Satellite Networks).
The vision systems research is currently focused on the development of a firefighting robot. The tasks at hand include overall awareness of the fire and local environment, flame-front detection, tracking, and prediction, obstacle avoidance, and self-preservation. [More]
Parallel Robotics Group
|The University of Wyoming Parallel Robotics Research Group is actively investigating the design and application of parallel robots for precision pointing and vibration isolation. This research was initiated by Drs John E. McInroy and John O'Brien, based on their experience at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The UW HEX, pictured above, is a second generation design, owing much of its structure and refinement to NASA JPL's hexapod. The research conducted at the University of Wyoming has been sponsored by numerous federal agencies over the past fifteen years. [More]|
