SpyHunter IEEE 2019

December 16, 2019

CEDAR Lab members Rasana Manandhar and Shaya Wolf have published their work on SpyHunter, part of the ARCADE line of research, which focuses on continuous authentication using privacy-aware keystroke dynamics. Rasana then presented this work at the IEEE International Conference on Machine Learning and Applications (ICMLA) 2019. This work aims to provide user authentication beyond the initial entry of a password and takes advantage of the unique way that users type on the keyboard to ensure that only the properly authenticated user is performing actions. While other keystroke analysis techniques work using the characters being typed, which could be hijacked as a keylogger, SpyHunter focuses only on key press timings and does not store the information typed by the user.
