Workshops showing how to write a business plan are in Powell and Cody this November. Sandra Frost, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) educator in Powell, will teach the classes. The Powell session is Monday, Nov. 2, in the extension meeting room at the Park County Fairgrounds, and the Cody class is Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Barling Room in the basement of the Park County Courthouse. Both start at 7 p.m. A business plan provides direction and structure to one's thinking by posing questions, said Frost. "Where will you take the venture? What do you want out of it? You will be less likely to miss important points because a business plan has structure," she said. "A business plan communicates to lenders, employees, partners, suppliers and customers exactly what the business is going to do. Writing a business plan provides a reality check of your thinking. Is your idea feasible? What help do you need to carry it out?" Participants will understand the organization of a business plan and start developing a document that presents a picture of a business, where the business is going and how it will get there. Either a disk or hard copy of handouts will be available at the workshop. Participants could bring their laptops and start writing at once, said Frost.
