Emerald ash borer information meetings in Powell, Cody

 How to identify the emerald ash borer and the damage it causes is the topic of presentations in Powell and Cody.

Sandra Frost, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service educator, will present "Frequently Asked Questions about Emerald Ash Borer." The Powell meeting is Monday, Nov. 9, in the extension meeting room at the Park County Fairgrounds, and the Cody presentation is Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Barling Room in the basement of the Park County Courthouse. Both begin at 7 p.m.

Midwestern states that expect to lose most of their native ash trees have created management teams and plans to deal with emerald ash borer infestations, said Frost.

"Wyoming will experience the effects of this insect also. Many Wyoming cities and towns have planted ash species for summer shade," she said. "Come and learn how to identify ash trees and borers, how to treat healthy ash trees and how to treat infested ash trees."
