Greenhouse Gases and Unconventional Reservoirs
A request for proposals was issued on April 1, 2010 for Geologic
Sequestration of Greenhouse Gases and Recovery of Unconventional Gas.
The focus of the research in fundamentals of multiphase flow in porous media is in two topic areas:
of greenhouse gas and associated impurities (GGI) in geologic
formations, e.g., deep saline aquifers and oil and gas reservoirs.
Namely, research activities that aim at improving the current
understanding of the underlying phenomena responsible for various GGI
geologic storage mechanisms that can be used to develop or improve
predictive modeling tools.
Recovery of natural gas from
unconventional reservoirs characterized by low permeability. Namely,
research activities that aim at improving the current understanding of
permeability distribution, connectivity, and flow pathways that can be
used to improve reservoir models and field design.
