Hach Scientific Foundation Chemistry Teacher Scholarship

March 15, 2023.

 

The scholarship recipient will be notified April 2023.

 
To support chemistry in the classroom, the Hach Scientific Foundation is working with the University of Wyoming to offer scholarships to students who will be focusing on chemistry and who agree to pursue a state-certified teaching career. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA. Applicants must also enter into one of the UW College of Education secondary science options that provides state certification to teach high school chemistry. Applicants may also pursue dual majors in the UW Chemistry Department (B. A. or B. S. in chemistry) and the UW College of Education (secondary science teaching education).
 
The recipient of the scholarship will receive $6,000 per year for five years of undergraduate study, provided he or she maintains at least a 3.0 GPA and remains an education major with a focus on chemistry. Specific details of the scholarship will be provided at the time of the award. The recipient is also eligible to apply for the summer research internship program offered by the Hach Company, which is managed directly by the company.

                                                                                                                         Application Procedure:

A complete application packet will include:

1.     Two letters of recommendation that attest to applicants academic potential as a High School Teacher   
2.     A high school transcript.
3.     ACT and/or SAT scores.
4.     A one page statement of the applicant's career goals.
 

 
The scholarship recipient will be selected by the Chemistry Department and the College of Education on the basis of the student's scholarship, character, and industry, and his or her aspiration to make a contribution to chemical education at the high school level. Economic need may be considered but shall not be the determining factor in the selection process. Recipients must be citizens of the United States.
