Fall 2014 Admission Deadlines

The review of applications will begin on January 15, 2014.

International students must submit application materials by January 8, 2014. Domestic applicants are encouraged to submit the application by January 15, 2014 to received full consideration, however domestic applications are accepted year round.

Minimum requirements to be considered for acceptance to the Department of Chemistry Graduate Program:

  • GPA of ≥ 3.00
  • GRE of ≥ 297 (Ph.D.) or ≥ 291 (M.S.)
  • Strong letters of recommendation

Distinguished Graduate Fellowship

Distinguished Graduate Fellowship will be offered to outstanding Ph.D. applicants. The fellowship entails $25,500 TA annual stipend and a $8,000 augmentation. The augmentation will be distributed as $5,000 for the first academic year and $3,000 for the first summer.

Minimum requirements to be considered for the Distinguished Graduate Fellowship:

  • GPA of ≥ 3.00
  • GRE of ≥ 317
  • Strong letters of recommendation

Steps to Apply

  1. Fill out the Department of Chemistry pre-application form: Click here for pre-application

    ** Please note: Applying to the University through the online application form is NOT NECESSARY until you are accepted into the Chemistry graduate program.  If you are accepted into Chemistry, you will then apply to the UW, pay the application fee, and submit official transcripts and scores.
  2. Email unofficial transcript(s) to Graduate Coordinator Emmalee Moore at emoore21@uwyo.edu

  3. Email scanned copy of your GRE scores to Emmalee Moore at emoore21@uwyo.edu

  4. Arrange for 3 letters of recommendation to be emailed to Emmalee Moore at emoore21@uwyo.edu

  5. International applicants email scanned copy of your TOEFL or IELTS scores to Emmalee Moore at emoore21@uwyo.edu


Acceptance Criteria

Acceptance is competitive, minimum requirements to apply for either Teaching Assistantships or Doctoral Academic Fellowships include:
  • GPA: 3.0 or its equivalent
  • GRE: A minimum of 297 (V+Q) for Ph.D. Degree and 291 for Master's Degree (School code for UW is 4855)
  • Three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with your chemistry abilities
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended, unofficial will be accepted by our Department, however, if accepted, Official will need to be sent for admission to the University
  • Official TOEFL examination scores for all international applicants from non-English speaking countries (School code for UW is 4855). A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based test is required for full admission.
  • IELTS minimum score of 6.5 required.
