Areas of research include architectural, environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. Exceptional candidates may qualify to receive a Harold O. Kester Graduate Fellowship or a Vincent O. and Ann Barker Smith Graduate Fellowship. These fellowships provide an additional stipend of $4,000 paid over three semesters. Applicants to the Graduate School are automatically considered for one of these fellowships.

Completed applications are reviewed semiannually. Candidates should have their applications completed by March 1 to be considered for assistantships beginning in the Fall semester. For assistantships beginning in the Spring semester, the application deadline is October 1.
