Kester/Smith PhD Graduate Fellowships

The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Wyoming has a continuing need for top-quality Ph.D. students to support the research and teaching missions of the Department. Areas of research include architectural, environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. Graduate assistantships for either research or teaching are available on a competitive basis to students admitted to the Graduate School of the University of Wyoming. The academic-year stipend is $14,004. Assistantships also include tuition and fee waivers plus health insurance.

Exceptional candidates may qualify to receive a Harold O. Kester Graduate Fellowship or a Vincent O. and Ann Barker Smith Graduate Fellowship. These fellowships provide an additional stipend of $4,000 paid over three semesters. Applicants to the Graduate School are automatically considered for one of these fellowships.

Completed applications are reviewed semiannually. Candidates should have their applications completed by March 1 to be considered for assistantships beginning in the Fall semester. For assistantships beginning in the Spring semester, the application deadline is October 1.
