Patricia Taylor's current research focus is on the nature of attitudes toward protected areas, such as national parks and forests.  She has recently completed a national survey on the willingness to pay for access to national protected areas.  The Department of the Interior used this study as the basis for setting the price on the current "America the Beautiful" Pass.  At present, she has in the field a national survey for the Environmental Protection Agency on the willingness to pay for improved air quality, and a second national survey for the National Park Service on attitudes toward the NPS and its policies.  Embedded in these surveys are methodological comparisons of telephone, web, and mail-out surveys, as well as a study of non-respondents.
