Welcome! Our program is a concentration in Criminal Justice through the existing Masters of Public Administration (MPA) graduate program in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wyoming. With the knowledge base in criminal justice and practices having expanded in the last thirty years, there is a need to prepare for more highly trained positions in criminal justice. This program provides continual education on the theories and practices of the criminal justice field and technological and legal changes in the criminal justice field.
This collaboration with the MPA program was chosen very specifically to meet the educational needs of current and future criminal justice professionals. The Master’s Degree often is a requirement of advancement to management in many Criminal Justice agencies.
Students must be successfully admitted to both the MPA program and CJ concentration.
Program of Study
Students must complete the core and option-core elements of the MPA, but will apply CJ program coursework as MPA elective requirements, making the degree an MPA with a Criminal Justice concentration.
All Graduate Faculty Regulations will apply to all the courses in the MPA/CJ degree Program of Study and students will be required to finish the same graduation requirements as all other graduate students.
One degree will be posted and one diploma awarded.
For further information about the MPA/CJ program, please call or write: (307) 766-2988 or email the graduate coordinator for the CJ concentration (CJMPA@uwyo.edu).
