The Criminal Justice program at the University of Wyoming is designed to offer a multidisciplinary approach, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice. The wide range of courses offered by the program allows students to structure their undergraduate education in a way that will best qualify them for a large variety of career choices.
Criminal Justice students wishing to attend law school may elect to declare the Pre-Law Concentration, consisting of courses chosen to help prepare them for the challenges of law school and the practice of law. Classes related to criminal law and police administration are offered specifically for those seeking careers in law enforcement.
The curriculum also is useful to many persons contemplating careers in the criminal justice system besides the practice of law or law enforcement. For example, those interested in juvenile offenders, prisons, parole and probation, or court administration can plan a course of study that best suits their occupational goals. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of criminal justice, several careers outside of the field also are relevant such as those in mental health care and social work.
