The Wyoming Department of Education through the Department of Individualized Learning provides a variety of ongoing professional development targeted to schools that are in the “does not meet expectations” category of WAEA. District’s seeking this support should contact Jennifer at TBD.

Technical Level Assistance with School Improvement Planning

Using the latest AdvancEd accreditation school reports, a trained coach will follow up with the school in aligning the school improvement plan with a detailed assessment of the available school level data. Through a combination of training and coaching of the principal, leadership teams, and staff members, the school will work to revise the school improvement plan. Special emphasis will be placed on helping build a school culture where the social capital is high and the focus is on student achievement. WyCEL School Team Leadership Academy

This WyCEL training consists of 3 full day-face-to-face days of training with ZOOM meetings in between sessions.  The content of the academy will focus on analyzing the school’s data, presenting the data to a variety of audiences, and practical training on handling difficult conversations with colleagues and employees.  Participants must have access to their school’s data and their school improvement plan. The required participants in the academy include the principal and 1-4 teachers from the school. The cost for the training is $1,950 per person.

UW Literacy Center School Wide Training

Any school interested in developing the reading and literacy skills of all staff members in the school, may contact the University of Wyoming Literacy Center.  The center offers support for middle school and/or high school staff.  The training is on-site and is designed to work with most if not all staff members in the secondary school to  build the literacy skills across the content areas. Advancing Student Success Through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Summit

The Sheridan County School District #2 in partnership with the WDE holds an annual summit for educators in Sheridan, Wyoming.  The focus of the summit is on a variety of instructional and system building skills that will help schools develop a culture of student success. The conference is held in the summer.  The cost is TBD and the contact person is Mick West at TBD.
