2017 Community Engagement

The healthy choice should be the easy choice – for ALL families. Statewide, the Cent$ible Nutrition Program works with partners on community engagement projects to create healthier communities. These projects include community gardens, local food projects, farmers' markets, policy and environmental changes in schools, and more. The goal of our partnerships and projects is to help increase access to healthy foods and physical activity for everyone.

Below are some of CNP's selected community engagement stories from 2017.

Marty Moose Makes a Difference

During the 2017 school year, the Cent$ible Nutrition Program launched its newly revised Grazing with Marty Moose curriculum. The curriculum is designed for a 3rd grade audience, but the revisions include interventions which make it possible for CNP educators to reach the entire school. Natrona County CNP had a lot of fun and success with the new school-wide interventions.

Big Horn County Garden

Local Foods for Low-Income Families

Over the last two years, the Cent$ible Nutrition Program educator in Big Horn County has worked to increase access to fresh, local produce through community gardening efforts. This year, she applied for a grant to establish a new community garden to continue to increase access to local produce for families and individuals with limited resources in Big Horn County.

Gardening for Local Food Access

During the 2017 summer, CNP in Natrona County developed a teaching garden in the UW Extension Master Gardener community garden. Through collaborative efforts with other local agencies, food pantries, and community gardeners, the CNP garden increased access to local vegetables for the low-income audience.
