BEAU BINGHAM

Beau Bingham (M.A., New Mexico State University, 2002) is director of the Oral Communication Center, and a senior lecturer in the Department of Communication and Journalism. His academic interests include apprehension, public speaking, interpersonal communication, business and professional communication and computer mediated communication. Specifically, the influence social validation plays in society and the media equation.

Beau enjoys outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, camping and animals. The most exotic animal Beau has ever owned is an elk. However, today most of his time is spent with two border collies named Chip and Bear.

Beau has won communication awards at leadership conferences in Idaho, Texas and Pennsylvania. However, his real love is in the classroom where he earned the Blaine Goss Teaching Award. When not in the classroom, Beau can be found working one on one with students in the Oral Communication Center. Here students are helped with all aspects of speech development, including choosing a topic, delivery and speech fright.
