UW Speech and Hearing Clinic

Clinic Information

The UW Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic is located on the campus of the University of Wyoming, in Room 160 of the Health Sciences Center.  The UW Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic is a full service clinic and a training program for graduate students in Speech-language pathology and audiology.  It is open to the public and serves people of all ages and with a variety of communication, cognitive, hearing and swallowing disorders.  These may include difficulty with speaking, hearing, understanding, and swallowing due to developmental delays, following a stroke, or as a result of other injuries such as a brain injury or diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Audiology services include hearing screenings, diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid evaluations and dispensing, hearing aid repairs, counseling concerning assistive listening devices, fitting custom earplugs, and vestibular assessment.

The services are provided by graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologists (CCC-SLP) and audiologists (CCC-A).  The clinic is equipped with three observation rooms so that parents and family members, along with supervisors and undergraduate observers, can observe clients’ treatment sessions without intrusion but benefit from learning about the evaluation and treatment process.

The Division of Communication Disorders is an accredited graduate program by the Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).  The UW Clinic serves as a training facility for graduate students entering the fields of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.  Services are provided graduate student clinicians who are supervised by ASHA certified and state licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists.  The Clinic is open year-round from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but often follows the University's academic calendar for closures.

To make an appointment for an evaluation, consultation, or treatment, contact the main clinic number at 307/766-6426.  The UW Clinic follows the University academic calendar and is open year-round from 7:30 to 4:30.  A sliding fee scale is available for speech-language services with a discount offered for treatment in the summer session.
