In Memory of Dr. Craig Arnold 1967 - 2009

Author of Shells (Yale Series of Younger Poets, 1999) and  Made Flesh (Ausable, 2008). His poems and reviews are featured in three volumes of Best American Poetry and widely elsewhere. Among his awards and honors are the Rome Prize, an NEA Fellowship, the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholarship, and the Hodder Fellowship from Princeton. In the Spring of 2009, Arnold visited volcanoes in Japan as part of his research for a new book of poetry. On April 26, 2009, he hiked the volcano on a southern Japanese island, Kuchinoerabu-jima, and he did not return. An intensive search failed to find him. At the University of Wyoming's memorial celebration, Craig Arnold's colleagues, friends, and family members recalled his many contributions.
