March 3, 2014 — University of Wyoming Associate Professor Kate Northrop has been awarded the $25,000 Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer's Prize, an annual award given to a young writer of proven excellence in poetry or prose.

April 22, 2014 — University of Wyoming Professors and MFA Creative Writing Faculty, H.L. Hix and Kate Northrop, will lead an evening writing workshop at the Laramie County Public Library in Cheyenne, Wyoming on May 6th, 2014.

Prize-winning international literary star, Dinaw Mengestu, to visit Library

March 26, 2014 — Jackson, WY- Teton County Library is proud to host author Dinaw Mengestu on Saturday, April 26 at 7 pm in the Ordway Auditorium as part of its Writers at the Library series. With his third novel, All Our Names, published this month to wide acclaim, Mengestu’s star continues to the rise. Mengestu’s earlier novels: The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears (2008) and How to Read the Air (2010) were both New York Times “Notable Books.”

‘How to Read the Air’ Author Dinaw Mengestu Visits UW

January 30, 2014 — MacArthur “Genius” Grant Fellow Dinaw Mengestu will visit the University of Wyoming as an Eminent Writer in Residence this term. In a series of visits to campus, he will lead workshops with Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing students, hold public readings in Laramie and Jackson, and visit with undergraduate students in the Multicultural Resource Center and the creative writing minor.
