Community Engagement Mini-GrantsSLCE is proud to support faculty initiatives to increase community engagement and service opportunities for students. The Service, Leadership, and Community Engagement (SLCE) Office is pleased to announce the availability of Community Engagement Mini-Grant Awards. These grants, typically between $200 and $700, are available to fund the implementation of new community engagement projects or the improvement of established projects in existing courses. Grants will be awarded to faculty on a competitive basis according to the selection criteria. The Community Engagement Mini-Grants seek to encourage opportunities for active student experiences that enhance classroom learning through addressing community needs. 2018-2019 Request For Proposals Due to budgetary issues, SLCE will not be offering Community Engagement Mini-Grants for Fall 2020. |
Engaged Faculty Learning CommunityDid you know that incorporating "real-life" learning opportunities into education is an effective way to engage students in the learning process? Service-learning is a high-impact educational practice using "real-life" experiences, that can foster long-term, and potentially transformative learning. With this in mind, SLCE and the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning are teaming up to offer an exciting opportunity for 10 faculty members to participate in a faculty learning community (FLC) on service-learning. Participants will meet six times, for two hours each, during the fall 2016 semester and five times during spring 2017. See the syllabus for further details. |
