The University of Wyoming participated in a four-year longitudinal study sponsored by the Lumina Foundation and the Council for Aid to Education using the CLA to assess student learning from 2005 to 2009. In 2005-06, UW recruited 276 freshmen to participate. This group of students was followed for a four-year period.

The University of Wyoming currently conducts a cross-sectional study of its students using the CLA once every three years. In these cross-sectional studies, approximately 100 freshmen and 100 seniors are asked to take the CLA. UW conducted two cross-sectional studies (in 2011-2012 and 2014-2015 academic years).

The University of Wyoming has participated in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) since 2000. UW has conducted the NSSE in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018. We also conducted the accompanying Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) in 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018. NSSE and FSSE are being administered again in Spring 2019.
