WyoWeb for the Paperwork of Teaching|Instructional Computing Faculty Help

WyoWeb, the UW portal, houses web applications through which instructors manage records and communications.

For help with course websites, please call 766-HELP or e-mail wyocourses-inst@uwyo.edu.

Using WyoWeb for Student Contacts and Records

How can I e-mail my class under the new Banner and WyoWeb systems?

When you log into WyoWeb, you should be able to e-mail your class using either the e-mail link (envelope icon) next to the course title in the Faculty Dashboard, or the class listing in "My Courses."

Your browser, the application that you are running to reach WyoWeb, will use the e-mail client (a different application program) that is defined within it.  Different browsers define the e-mail client in different ways.  The default configuration should handle Windows users in Internet Explorer, but others may need to seek help from their department's User Consultant or from Instructional Computing Services.

How can I get a copy of my student roster into a spreadsheet on my own computer?

You want the screen entitled "Summary Class List," and you can find it in either from the Faculty Dashboard channel (Faculty tab) by clicking on the icon of people next to the class name, or in the Banner Self-Service Channel under the "Faculty and Advisors" menu.  At the bottom of that screen, you will see a "Download" button, which will transfer to your computer system a comma-separated values file (".csv"), suitable for opening with a spreadsheet.

Submitting Grades through WyoWeb

Use the channel called Faculty Grade Submission for both Mid-Term and Final grades.  Please see the Information page of the Office of the Registrar:
  http://www.uwyo.edu/registrar/faculty_and_staff/index.html
Look under 'G' for "grades," for information.

More on searching:

In addition to Advisees, you can search through Students (for all enrolled in one of your classes for that term), Both, or All (for all registered at UW for the term). The percent symbol is a wildcard and is most commonly used when the spelling of a name in not known.  For example, if John Rhys-Davis is the name of the student but you're not sure how the name appears in Banner, you could search in a couple of different ways.

Last Name:  %Davis%
First Name:  John
Click on 'All'
This will return all of the students currently enrolled whose first name is John and their last name contains Davis.  Examples could include John Davis, John Smith-Davis, John Davison, but you would also pull up John Rhys-Davis

Other examples:

Last Name:  %Rhys%
First Name:  <blank>
Click on 'All'
This will return all of the students currently enrolled whose last name contains 'rhys' in some manner.  Capitalization of letters in the search criteria does not matter.

Last Name:  Shakes%
First Name: W%
Click on 'All'
This will return all of the student currently enrolled whose last name starts with 'Shakes' and whose first name starts with 'W'.  William Shakespeare, Wayne Shakeston, and Whitney Shakescu could be examples.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the Office of the Registrar at 307-766-5272.
