Faculty Learning Studio (FLS)

Drop in to consult about a wide range of curriculum and pedagogy questions, explore more advanced uses of WyoCourses, or get a refresher about the basic WyoCourses tools. Open to all UW instructors—teaching face-to-face, distance, and/or blended courses. No appointment is necessary. You can also email us at ectlidt@uwyo.edu to set up a custom workshop for you and your colleagues. We're here to help!

WyoCourses Rapid Course Design Workshops

We've streamlined this workshop to focus on the MOST ESSENTIAL tools to get your WyoCourses websites up and running as quickly as possible! Each two-hour session will give you hands-on assistance setting up the basic functionality for your course. This fall, we'll also include a section on fulfilling UW's new Syllabus guidelines.

All sessions are held in Coe Library 510F. This is the same session offered at three different dates and times.

Tuesday, September 3 | 9:00 - 11:00 am   (This Session has been cancelled due to conflict with UW Fall Faculty Meeting)

Friday, September 6 | 1:00 - 3:00 pm

In order to make these workshops as productive as possible you will need to bring/have access to the following things:

  • Instructor access to the WyoCourses shell you want to work on
  • Any assignments, quizzes, readings, files, etc. that you would like to put into the shell
  • A laptop with internet access and power supply
  • A sense of fun and adventure!

To make sure you have access to a course shell: 

If you are teaching in the upcoming semester, a course shell has been created for you. Complete the following procedure to access your course shell(s):

  • Go to http://wyoweb.uwyo.edu
  • Click on ‘WyoCourses’
  • Login with your UW user name and password
  • Look for your course under ‘Courses & Groups’

Summer Boot Camp Series 2019: Teaching and Learning at a Distance

Wednesday, June 12: Tools for Distance Teaching

Description: For this session we will learn the basics of WyoCourses as well as Zoom and talk about the Library Support for teaching at a distance.

Wednesday, July 24: Pedagogy of Distance Teaching

Description: This session will focus on best practices for the pedagogy of Distance Teaching. We will cover Backward Design, Inclusive Pedagogy, group learning tools, designing for academic integrity, and other topics

Wednesday, August 28: Engaging Distance Learners

Description: We will delve in to advanced topics in Distance Teaching and explore how to better engage distance students. Video, OER, Zoom, AR/VR, Gamification/Mastery, etc .

All sessions will occur in Coe Library 506 from 9am-12pm!
