Although many of our faculty development resources are located on campus, here are some of the resources off-campus faculty can access from a distance:
New Faculty Teaching and Learning Series Where possible, we will record sessions and post links to the recordings and session materials on our new faculty website.
Teaching Tips & Resources Our website includes a wealth of online resources about teaching and learning.
Online Higher Education Teaching Series We have a series of on-demand online pedagogy modules available to faculty on- or off-campus. This online teaching series is designed to further enhance the development and understanding of the principles of pedagogy. If you are looking for ideas to further develop your teaching skills, you will find a myriad of ideas and suggestions here.
ECTL Lending Library Our library contains hundreds of books, as well as selected DVDs, on teaching and learning. A searchable database is available on our website. Visitors are welcome to browse the collection any time during our regular office hours and/or check out materials. Off-campus faculty can request materials be shipped to their location.
Faculty TOUCH/Open Lab Hours We offer open lab hours every week for personal assistance with use of technologies for teaching. Faculty can phone in during open lab hours (phone numbers are provided on the IDT website). Check our Instructional Design and Technology website for times and locations for these sessions and other instructional technology training and workshop opportunities.
Writing Center Classroom Workshops and Consultations The Writing Center works with writers and instructors across UW, both on- and off-campus. Our mission is to support writers in their efforts to improve their writing skills, not simply to improve the writing. If you are off campus, schedule an online consultation by the following the process described on our website.
Mini-grants We have a limited amount of discretionary funds for instructors who are interested in furthering their professional development as it relates to teaching and learning. We also provide information about additional UW grant opportunities available to faculty. At this time, we have suspended our mini-grant program due to the uncertainty as to the availability of funds.
