Janel is the director of the ECTL. She completed her BS in Social Work from St. Cloud State University, an MA in Adult Education from Appalachian State University and her PhD in Educational Psychology from The University of Tennessee. She currently teaches courses on Teaching Methodologies and Applications in Higher Education. Her scholarly interests include the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) and Faculty Development. Her areas of expertise include Collaborative Communication, SOTL and Educational Psychology.

Cathy Gorbett

Cathy has been at the ECTL since 2007 in various administrative roles. She received a BS from the School of Applied Sciences in Office (Business) Administration from Miami University. As the Coordinator, she wears many hats and oversees the management of the finances as well as programming and marketing support. She works closely with the Director and division leads on the management of initiatives and efforts to support instructors.

Christine Boggs

Christi is the divisional head of Digital Teaching and Learning and an Instructional Designer. She has completed three degrees from the University of Wyoming, BS in Biology, MS in Instructional Design, and EdD in Adult Learning and Technology. Christi has taught courses across the institution from instructional design to leadership. She currently teaches in the School of Culture, Gender, and Social Justice as well as Kinesiology and Health. Her scholarly interests and areas of expertise include diversity, equity, and inclusion, inclusive pedagogy, distance education, emerging technologies, and faculty development. Christi is also the co-coach for the UW Nordic Ski.

Jeff MIller

Jeff is an Instructional Designer. He has an MS in Adult Learning and Technology and a BS in Journalism and Telecommunications from the University of Wyoming. He currently teaches two courses for the BAS degree, including the capstone course. His professional interests include digital education, organizational leadership, and critical thinking. His areas of expertise include digital teaching and learning; Canvas, Zoom, VidGrid, and other supported solutions; and legacy distance education practices and technologies.

Oksana is an Instructional Designer. She completed her PhD in Instructional Technology, from the University of Wyoming, and has taught online and web-conferencing classes in distance education, educational policy, statistics, and qualitative research. Her scholarly interests include teaching presence and teaching strategies in synchronous and asynchronous online courses. Her areas of expertise include distance education and educational technology application.

Samuel Shearer

Samuel is the Associate Director of Assessment. He received his BS in Meteorology from the University of Utah, his MS in Management from Troy State University, his MA in National Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, and his Ph.D. in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation from the Naval Postgraduate School. He currently teaches Leading People and Effective Communication. Samuel’s scholarly interests are leadership development and educational technology. His area of expertise includes leadership and assessment.

Jake is the coordinator of data in the Division of Assessment and Scholarship of Teaching & Learning. He has completed two degrees from the University of Wyoming, a BS in Broadcast Communications and a Master's in Public Administration. He is in charge of the collection of assessment data, website management and oversees the administrative aspects of the University Studies Program.

Meg leads the Critical and Creative Thinking division and is an instructional designer. She completed both her BA in Humanities and Fine Arts and MA in Interdisciplinary Studies at UW and teaches Professional & Technical Writing for the English Department. Her scholarly interests and areas of expertise include professional and technical writing, teaching writing and communication skills, teaching critical and creative thinking, building learning communities, and digital teaching and learning.

Rick Fisher

Rick is the director of Communication Across the Curriculum. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at UW (BA in English/Secondary Education, MA in Composition and Rhetoric and PhD in Literacy Education). Rick teaches courses in academic writing, technical writing, and Writing Studies. His scholarly interests include disciplinarily, genre studies, and writing-across-the-curriculum. In terms of faculty development, his areas of expertise include developing communication assignments, providing feedback to students, adopting a process-based approach to writing and communication projects, and promoting views of literacy and writing that extend beyond traditional print texts.

Francesca King

Francesca is the Director of the Writing Center. She completed her BA and MA in English & Creative Writing from the University of London (U.K.) and has a MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Wyoming. She teaches FYS and English 1010 for the LeaRN Program.

Heather Webb

Heather is a graduate assistant in the ECTL. She completed her MA in Higher Education Administration from the University of Wyoming. Heather facilitates the graduate student book club and assists with SoTL projects. Her scholarly interests include higher education access and success for underrepresented student populations. Her areas of expertise include assisting individuals and families in addressing social determinants and internal policies impacting access in adult education, higher education and healthcare.
