The Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning is excited to announce the upcoming 2017 John P. Ellbogen Summer Faculty Institute, scheduled May 22-25th

Are you a mid to later career faculty member (with 12 or more years of experience teaching in a full-time faculty/APL role)? Would you enjoy the opportunity to reflect on, reframe, and renew your teaching with a group of your peers? Apply for the 2017 John P. Ellbogen Summer Faculty Institute: 21st Century Teaching for the 20th Century Teacher. This four-day institute (May 22-25, 2017) will bring together teaching faculty and APLs from a variety of disciplines to reconnect with the excitement that originally led them into higher education teaching careers. Participants will participate in structured activities such as book discussions and workshops, as well as deep reflection and peer mentoring to guide them to re-energize and transform their vision for teaching.

Successful applicants will receive $500 as a summer stipend in June 2017. Applications are due by midnight Sunday, April 16.

Purpose: The fourth John P. Ellbogen Summer Institute will provide participants with the opportunity to reconnect with the excitement that led them to teaching careers in higher education. Throughout the four-day program, participants will explore how to effectively engage 21st Century learners in today’s teaching climates through book discussions, workshops on leveraging educational tools, and guided reflections about how their current and previous practices are serving their pedagogical goals as well as their students. Participants will end the week with a suite of strategies and tools to realize these goals.
