The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its amendments prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 also prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, education, and other protected activities. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) ensures equal access to education and promotes educational excellence throughout the nation through vigorous enforcement of civil rights.
The University of Wyoming is dedicated to making higher education available to everyone and adhering to all applicable provisions of both the ADA and Section 504. UW is committed to providing the appropriate resources to ensure that all UW community members and visitors have appropriate access to UW buildings, facilities, and services. Additionally, the University of Wyoming strives to be an inclusive community and to nurture an environment that values and manifests diversity, free expression, academic freedom, personal integrity, and mutual respect for people of all abilities.
In order to promote compliance with the ADA and Section 504 and to ensure that individuals with disabilities are afforded equal access to University programs, services, and activities, the University of Wyoming has established a UW Accessibility Committee.
This committee shall focus its efforts on the following:
