Women's Employee Network

Welcome to the Women's Employee Network

My name is Jen Chavez, and I am excited to be the team leader for the first ever Women’s Employee Network. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and have been a long time employee of the Division of Information Technology and have served in various capacities over the years. I currently serve as the Director of Enterprise IT, Infrastructure and Security, and am working on my Master’s in Higher Education Administration. In 2019, I had the privilege of attending the Academic Management Institute, which is a Colorado and Wyoming network of women leaders. During this past year, I have been able to network with a variety of women including administrators, faculty, and staff from across the State of Colorado and Wyoming. This group has inspired, motivated and rejuvenated my passion for the work that I do. On day one of the institute, we were asked to think about what we wanted to get out of the institute and log it in our journal. As I look back to that page in my journal, I wrote “inspire others to achieve their full potential, and I want to make an impact”. As a team leader, I want to bring women together to support and help each other grow as a community.

Jennie Hedrick has been a staff member on campus since 2008 and in the College of Business since 2012.  She completed her undergrad and graduate degrees in communication at UW.  She is a career services professional where she and her team work to connect employers and students through career events and experiential learning.  She served on Staff Senate for nearly two terms where she chaired the Recognition Committee that worked to recognize large and small efforts of staff members, planned Recognition Day, and worked to be inclusive of the 130 UW staff members working around the state.  She is excited to be a part of the Women’s Enet group to build a stronger community for women.  Regardless of the role women fill, she feels it is important to support and mentor each other so we can all come to work feeling valued and empowered.

Information about the Employee Network

The Women’s Employee Network is a group open to all staff and faculty who want to come together to support and connect with others within the university community.  Over the course of the semester, we will gather for social events, facilitate mentoring and host professional development activities.  The Women’s Employee Network is meant to be a place where we can network and share our experiences with others.   I hope in the process that we build new friendships along the way.  There is a place for everyone.  No matter the journey you are on personally or professionally, this network is meant to connect women together to support, mentor, inspire and help each other grow individually and as a community.  If you have any questions about the group or suggestions for upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Jennifer.Chavez@uwyo.edu or 307-766-4874.  I am very excited about the opportunities this group opens up for each of us, and look forward to connecting with you all over the coming years.
