School of Energy Resources (SER)

SER enhances UW's energy focused education, research and outreach mission. Our outcomes-oriented and solutions-based approach adds value and innovation to the university, state and nation. Our energy programs are designed to position UW as a national leader in energy R&D, to prepare graduates for long-term competitive success in the 21st century energy workforce, and to enhance energy literacy across the state and nation.

UW has numerous energy-directed undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, geology, renewable resources, economics and business. The recently initiated Energy MBA program has unique features that will establish graduates as leaders in the forefront of energy business. SER also offers a new and innovative BS degree in Energy Resource Management and Development. This multi-disciplinary, workforce directed program connects classroom learning with authentic experiences through internships, undergraduate research, global experiences, field trips, capstone courses, and mentoring by energy professionals. Close interactions with energy industry enhance opportunities for career placement.

SER Centers of Excellence coordinate a broad spectrum of research aimed at securing a sustainable energy future for the state and nation. SER sponsored research initiatives facilitate inter-institutional collaborations, faculty and student exchanges, graduate student support, and joint research projects.

SER is committed to maximizing diversity. We view this goal as a vital component for sustained 21st century success in the energy arena. And we welcome mutually beneficial partnerships. If you are interested in discussing opportunities please contact Mark Northam (SER Director, mnortham@uwyo.edu, 307-766-6858).
