Graduate Education Mission Statement

The Department of Economics and Finance is committed to providing a high-quality graduate education in the areas of economic and finance.  We offer four graduate degrees:  PhD in Economics, MS in Economics, MS in Finance and a Dual MS in Economics & Finance.  Our program has a long-standing reputation in applied microeconomics, particularly in the areas of environmental economics, natural resource economics, industrial organization and financial economics.  Our program is small by design, allowing students the opportunity to work close with highly respected faculty.  We emphasize that all students develop a solid foundation in quantitative methods and economic theory.  This foundation is then built upon as students work with faculty to investigate challenging economic and financial issues facing Wyoming, the U.S., and the global community.  During the research process, we stress critical thinking and clear communication of the relevant issues.  We pride ourselves on our graduate placement record and dedication to mentoring students as they mature into professional economists, financial analysts, and future leaders.
