Since the fall of 2013, our visiting scholars from Korea, Dr. Lee and Dr. Kim, have been conducting post-doctoral work and research here at UWYO and have actively engaged with the faculty and students in the College of Education. They shared some of their research projects that they have conducted this past year with us:

Intervening In Youth Addiction to the Internet & Smartphones through Web-Blog Writing

The purpose of this study is to examine strategic uses of a web-blog writing method that explores a process on how youth can cut down on their excessive involvement with the internet and smartphones. Because youth addiction on the internet and smartphones is increasing, there is a need to develop strategies. By using web-blogs, this study suggests four strategies to address these popular problems. Web-blog writing is potentially effective because it allows youth to express themselves in the form on  on-line diaries, and posting of personal stories, opinions and photos. The opportunity to post social and cultural events gives additional valuable information


Creative Smartphone Uses for 21st Century Learners: Making Children's Literature Picture Books

Learners in the 21st century live in an image-based, high-tech world. They frequently use  images to express their feelings and thoughts. Smartphones have several characteristics that children in 3rd through 6th grades could utilize to develop creative literatures on their own. This study examines the effectiveness of using smartphones as instructional tools for facilitating students’ writing of creative stories.
