Preparing for Commencement

Congratulations! As you enter your final year of study in the College of Education, there are several important dates and details about graduation you will want to know. Find them all right here, or email Debbie Martinez with your questions. Please  bookmark this page (and share with your family members) as a one-stop resource for event details. We will update this page as new information becomes available.

Declare Graduation Date and Pay Graduation Fee

You must file your Anticipated Graduation Date form and pay the graduation fee (online option here) by April 4, 2017.

Regalia Rental & Pick-Up

PiCK-UP: Detailed information about regalia pick-up will be posted here when available.

Ceremony Date & Speakers

WHERE AND WHEN: The 2017 commencement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, in the UW Indoor Practice Facility.

Graduates should arrive no later than 1 p.m. for line-up. Enter through the main (west) lobby entrance. Graduates should proceed to the check-in tables in the northeast corner.

The processional begins promptly at 1:30 p.m.

No tickets are needed; all guests are welcome.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols

STUDENT SPEAKERS: TBA, selected by college administration.

Because the flooring in the IPF consists of a special material designed for the building’s original purpose, the UW Athletics Department advises women graduates and guests to avoid wearing high heels. It is extremely difficult to wear them and walk on the turf, as heels may sink into the ground and create potential for a turned ankle. The last thing we want on your special morning is for you – or one of your family members – to sustain an injury. We strongly advise everyone, you and your women guests, to choose non-heel footwear for commencement morning.

PARKING: UW Transit and Parking Services enforces parking regulations and provides campus shuttles. Click here to access information for maps and additional information about commencement-day parking.

Livestreaming the Ceremony

UW will livstream our ceremony on commencement morning via WyoCast. Details will be added as they become available. Note: WyoCast runs on Microsoft Silverlight. We recommend checking in a few minutes early to ensure that you have what you need installed. For technical questions, use the help desk options on the WyoCast home page. (Note: WyoCast seems to play well with Google Chrome and Safari but does not like Firefox.)

Graduation Day!

Commencement marks the close of one life chapter and the opening of another for our graduates each year.
