Leslie S. Rush, associate professor in the Department of Secondary Education, was a recipient of the Mary Ellbogen Garland Early Career Fellowship in 2002. With the support of the fellowship, Leslie was able to complete work on several projects that were in progress at the time. The first of these projects, a chapter reviewing literacy programs at the secondary level, was subsequently published in Research and Practice in Adolescent Literacy, edited by Janice Dole and Tamara Jetton. She also completed an analysis of data from a study examining a summer tutoring program for junior high students; this study was published in Reading Research and Instruction.
