Education Research Symposium set for March 8

The UW College of Education Research Forum, an annual event highlighting scholarly activities by College of Education faculty and graduate students, is scheduled for Friday, March 8.

The symposium “provides a potentially instructive opportunity to prepare and rehearse presentations accepted for a forthcoming national or state conference,” according to symposium organizer Martin Agran, professor of professional studies. Concurrent sessions will run in Rooms 308 and 318 in the Education Annex, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. All sessions are free and open to the public.

Presenters could participate in one of three ways:

• Paper presentations (reserved for a single paper and/or investigation)
• Panel presentation, in which three or more presenters present papers on a common theme, and
• Poster presentations

Some of the topics on this year’s schedule include:

• What to do about cyberbullying? Implications for leaders
• Engagement theory: Reconceptualizing early education
• Challenges in diagnosis and couples work: An ethical decision making model
• Student and instructor perceptions of trust-building in online courses
• Assessing preservice elementary teachers’ beliefs about mathematics
