Joan K. (Matthews) James, MA '88, PhD '07, received the Gilder Lehman Wyoming History Teacher of the Year Award. She also is a top-five finalist for the National History Teacher of the Year Award. Joan teaches at the UW Lab School.
Marcia Bankirer, PhD '87, was appointed president of the Denver School of Nursing.
Lisa Esquibel, BA '01, was awarded the 2011 Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence from the National Education Association. Lisa is a kindergarten teacher at Davis Elementary in Cheyenne.
LeAnn Uhling, MA '09, received the 2011 Presidential AWard for Excellence in Math Teaching. LeAnn is a kindergarten teacher at Saratoga Elementary School.

Theresa Williams, MS '07, is a top-three finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. Theresa teaches at the UW Lab School.
Brent Weigner, '77, completed the Antarctic Ice Marathon and 100K in early December. In the process, he broke the U.S. record for 100 kilometer time on Antarctica and became the first person to run seven separate marathons on all seven continents. The Casper Star-Tribune featured Becky Junge, BA '12, in a May 10, 2012, article titled "UW/CC grad hopes to teach where she grew up."
Robert Litt, MS '11, ITEC, was featured in an online article titled "How One Teacher Built a Computer Lab for Free."
E. Norman Bishop, BA '69, MA '74, recently joined the Alice Lloyd College faculty as an assistant professor of education. A link to the article announcing his appointment can be found here.
