Electrical and Computer Engineering
College of Engineering and Applied Science
Jerry’s research activities focus on applied sensing and signal processing as well as best practices for math, science and engineering education. The applied research has a common thread of computation, with the hardware platforms spanning the gamut of FPGAs, embedded microcontrollers and parallel, distributed systems with multi-core CPUs and GPUs. A continued area of particular interest involves techniques for self-localization of mobile platforms (from small robotic vehicles and bipeds up to platoons of emergency response resources). Various schemes for satisfying this sensing need include radio and acoustic techniques, as well as image processing.
