The Office of Engagement and Outreach core staff includes AmeriCorps volunteers who serve one-year, full-time terms. Katherine “Kitty” Heller was OEO’s first AmeriCorps staff member and sole full-time staff member, coming on-board as OEO transitioned to its newly renovated space in the Bureau of Mines Building. As the OEO AmeriCorps Engagement Coordinator, Kitty assisted with developing operations policies and procedures and coordinated projects and staff work assignments.

Kitty was involved in a variety of projects and initiatives through the OEO. Of note: serving in a liaison capacity to the Governor’s Council for the Wyoming Women’s Suffrage Celebration and coordinating publicity for UW-sponsored suffrage celebration programming; collaborating with OEO staff on campus-wide engagement surveys and reports; OEO project lead for the development and launch of a revised UW engagement calendar, UWYO Events. Kitty also provided support to ongoing programs, such as Saturday University, travelling to Green River with UW faculty for the SatU Powell Expedition event.
