Graduate Assistantships

• All students admitted to the program will be funded by graduate assistantships which provide an annual stipend of $11,349 and a tuition and fees waiver.
• Students are allocated an annual travel and research stipend.
• Students will be provided with a small additional stipend in the summer between their first and second year.

Teaching

• Master of Arts in English students will be required to teach at least two semesters of English 1010: College Composition and Rhetoric.
• Other teaching options, such as English 2020: Introduction to Literature or the option to lead discussion-sections of literature surveys or other upper-division courses may become available.

Professional Development

• All Master of Arts in English students are offered the opportunity to apply for the following assistantship assignments for one year.

  • Coe Library Reference and Classroom Instruction
  • Editorial Intern for Eighteenth Century Life
