Margaret Darnell

Outreach Graduate Student

Maggie Darnell is currently a middle school English teacher in Wheatland, Wyoming. She received her B.S. in Secondary Education with an English Endorsement from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she began as a geoscience major and had the opportunity to work with NASA. For her senior capstone, she tested the tensile strength of rotting chicken skin to explore the nature of bloating, floating, and possibly exploding dead vertebrate animals in aquatic environments. Along with her interest in science, she discovered that she wanted to be a teacher and student taught English at Pine Ridge High School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She’s currently interested in running with her dog, the evolution of science narrative writing, and the rhetoric surrounding murder in podcasts.
