I have published my research in Journal of Technical Writing, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Computers and Composition, and elsewhere. This work has come from two different streams of inquiry, the first having to do with the role of technical communication and computer-based composition in contemporary English studies, the second dealing with police use-of-force policy as a workplace genre engaged in complex rhetorical work in policing agencies and communities. I continue to pursue questions related to the latter.
I teach courses in composition (primarily in the Synergy program, which I love) and professional/technical communication here at UW. Right now, I am coordinating the professional writing minor and am enjoying the opportunity to think about professional writing in a programmatic sense, as well.
I like spending time with my family. Travel, music, some outdoor stuff from time to time—though these activities are far too occasional, they are good fun, too.
