About the Programs

The University of Wyoming offers students two unique English graduate programs in an intellectually vibrant department.

Master of Arts in English

Our Master of Arts students receive a solid base in English Studies, with a concentration in either literature or composition and rhetoric, while tailoring their studies to their career goals. This program has allowed our graduates to achieve success in university teaching, law, publishing, grant writing and marketing. While at the University of Wyoming, students also benefit from the Department's impressive speakers' series; past speakers have included Paul Muldoon, Michael Ondaatje, Terry Tempest Williams, Robert Scholes, and Jean Howard.

Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing

The University of Wyoming's Creative Writing MFA program is an intensive two-year studio degree in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Special features include a flexible curriculum, cross-genre opportunities, opportunities for interdisciplinary study, and our Eminent Writers in Residence program, which brings distinguished authors to campus to work closely with our students.
