BIO: Adrian Shirk was born in the now-defunct Manhattan maternity ward at St. Vincents Hospital on an important national holiday. Raised in Portland, Oregon by musicians and social workers, she eventually went back East to pursue a BFA in Writing for Publication, Performance, and Media at Pratt Institute (Brooklyn). She's a founder/editor for The Corresponding Society, and its associated journal Correspondence, and assistant editor at Wilder Quarterly, an NYC-based horticulture and design magazine. Her nonfiction work has appeared in Wilder Quarterly, Owl Eye Review, Spork, Water Science, 7Stops Magazine, and Providence Monthly. Left to her own devices, she writes about American religion, astrology, geography, the remains of fallen cities, and family ancestry. Her husband graciously accompanied her on the Western migration from upstate New York.
