Harry Whitlock II

Graduate Student

BIO: Harry Lee Whitlock II is a first-year graduate student, native Wyomingite, and a retired career soldier. During the first half-century of his life he has worked as a dishwasher, a cook, a carpenter, a mason’s hoddy, on a seismograph crew, as a house painter, and a medical laboratory scientist, as well as many different jobs he had in the U.S. Army. In what he hopes will be many more decades of interesting work, he plans to teach, write, and check items off the bucket list. He has a BS in microbiology from the University of Wyoming (1987) and a BA in English with a professional writing minor (2011). His primary academic interest is the military experience as represented in literature, especially when viewed through the lens of trauma theory. He is also interested in genealogy, collecting ancestors and discovering their lives in the past decades and centuries. He is married and has two children.
