B.A. in English, University of Texas-Austin, TX

Research Interests: composition, memoir and life writing, hybrid genres, visual rhetoric, film studies.
I grew up in Farmersville, Texas. After getting my B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin, I taught English as a foreign language for four years in Prague, Czech Republic. It was there that I realized how much I enjoyed working with teenagers, so I decided to return to Texas so that I could teach literature at a high school. After five years of teaching high school, primarily in my school's International Baccalaureate program, I realized that I wanted to learn more about how to help students with their writing, resulting in my decision to pursue graduate studies focusing on rhetoric and composition. In my free time, I enjoy photography and (when I’m not injured) running marathons.
